Helen R. Comrie

AUBURN-Helen M. (Campbell) Comrie, 93 went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 3,2021 at a friend's home in Charlton.

She was born in Worcester, daughter of John A. and Laura M. (Bemis) Campbell and attended Commerce High School.
Helen worked in the office at Olson Manufacturing, now known as Inner-Tite Corporation in Holden and worked Housekeeping at Holy Cross College when she retired over 20 years ago.

Helen married Ralph Comrie a gentleman from CT in 1965. They lived in Worcester until taking the position of "Caretaker" at the Assembly of God Campgrounds in Charlton, MA where they remained into the 1980's. From there they purchased property in Auburn and built their dream home which they enjoyed together until Ralph's passing in 2004.

Having no children of her own, she was a foster parent to 13 children and took many Holy Cross students under her wing while working there. She also was actively involved in helping her nieces, nephews, great -nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews.

As a teenager Helen attended Mt. Elam Full Gospel Church with her sisters Alice and Effie and was active in its youth group. Mt. Elam became Assemblies of God in the 50's and she was a Sunday School teacher during that time. Later she attended New Life Fellowship church in Charlton, a sister Assemblies of God church and later returned to the Worcester First Assemblies of God, which is now Living Word Church. She belonged to the 59er's group and most recently the Senior Chapel Connect. Helen was involved in ladies' groups in various churches enjoying the social aspect of Christian fellowship and was seen frequently with her sister Effie. She was a member of the Red Hat Society. Helen's week would not be complete without a wash and set by her favorite hairdresser Linda.

Helen is survived by nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces, great-great nephews and great-great nieces. As well as Doreen a longtime friend, she met while working at the Fair Department store. She was predeceased by her husband of 39 years, Ralph and eight siblings: Alice Adams, Josephine Anderson, Mary Swett, Hazel Campbell, Nellie Tsianco, Laura Bolton, Frank Campbell, Effie Sodagar. A special recognition and Blessing to Tonya, Helen's caregiver for the past year.

The celebration of Helen's life will be held at the "Living Word Church", 30 Tyler Prentice Road, Worcester on Saturday September 25, 2021 at 10:00am. Burial will follow at Rural Cemetery.
