Helen M. Gibbons

WORCESTER-Helen M. (O'Malley) Gibbons, 85, of Worcester, died Monday, December 6th at UMASS Memorial Hospital.



Her husband of 41 years, John P. Gibbons, Jr. died on March 25, 1988. She leaves a daughter, Jean M. Halsdorff and her husband Dennis of No. Oxford; a son, James P. Gibbons and his wife Elizabeth of Hingham; a sister, Alice, and her husband Robert Galvin of Needham; eight grandchildren, John and James Gibbons, Colleen Palacios and her husband Anthony, Erin Halsdorff, Meaghan Oldenburg and her husband Randy, Dennis Halsdorff, Jr. and Jaclyn and Jenna Gibbons. She also leaves two great grandchildren, John Gibbons and Hunter Oldenburg; several nephews and nieces and two dear friends and neighbors, Brenda Schuler and Eric Brandt. She was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Anne Gibbons in 1951, a son John M. Gibbons in 1996, two brothers James and David O'Malley and a sister Mary O'Malley.



She was born in Boston, the daughter of James P. and Elena O'Malley and graduated from Jeremiah E. Burke High School in Dorchester. Helen was a cafeteria worker for the Worcester Public School System and retired after 20 years as a cook in 1987.

She was a member of St. Stephen's Church since 1947. Helen enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren.



Helen's funeral will be Saturday, December 11 from CALLAHAN & FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle St. with a Mass at 10:30 AM at St. Stephen's Church, 357 Grafton St. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Friday, December 10 from 4:00 until 7:00 PM in the funeral home.
