Helen Leto was a loving, dedicated mother of two and a friend of many who passed away on October 8, 2022 at the age of 74 at UMass Medical Center with her family by her side.

Helen was born in Worcester on January 12, 1948, the daughter of the late Joseph and Helen (Teso) Leto. She graduated from David Hale Fanning Trade High School with a License in Cosmetology.

She was a hardworking mother that always worked two jobs to make sure she provided for her children.  Helen was known for her famous Italian cookies and she made sure her family, friends, neighbors and children’s teachers all received a dish every Christmas. Her nieces and nephews will never forget the haircuts they received from her. Helen’s favorite place to go with her family was the beach. She loved working with children and she worked in the Worcester Public Schools as an Instructional Assistant in Special Education for 24 years before she retired in 2016. She also worked part-time at Girls Inc. and the Boys & Girls Club of Worcester for many years.

She leaves behind her beloved son Derrick Leto and his wife, Nichole, and her beloved daughter Anna Leto; her five grandchildren that she adored and loved; her siblings Joseph Leto and his wife Nancy, Camille Leto, Rose Ellen Godin and her husband Ret. Maj Stephen Godin and a brother-n-law David Fallstrom; several nephews, nieces, extended family members and friends.

Helen was predeceased by her beloved grandson, brothers Anthony Leto, Michael Leto, sister Joanne Fallstrom and sister-in-law, Kathy Leto.

Helen's favorite color was purple and her children are asking for people to wear something in this color if attending services to represent her.

Family and friends are welcomed to a celebration of Helen's life with visiting hours on Thursday, October 20th from 4 until 7pm at Callahan, Fay & Caswell Life Celebration Home, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester.  A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, October 21st at 10:00am.
