WORCESTER-Helen M. Morrissey, 84, of Worcester passed away Sunday, April 10 in the Christopher House.
She leaves, four brothers, Daniel J. Morrissey of Worcester, Edward F. Morrissey and his wife, Carol Ann of Hampden, CT, John M. Morrissey and his wife, Jean of Shrewsbury and Joseph P. Morrissey and his wife, Nancy of Chapel Hill, NC; three sisters, Ann M. Petricca and her husband, Carl of Clinton, Sheila M. Smith and her husband, Donald of Worcester and Mary M. Morrissey of Worcester; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Irish immigrants, Michael J. and Julia A. (Donoghue) Morrissey and graduated from Sacred Heart Academy.
Helen was a payroll clerk for Heald Machine Company for many years, before retiring. She was a kind spirit who loved her family and all her nieces and nephews. Helen was active in the Heald Ski Club and Bowling League, was an enthusiastic Red Sox and Patriots fan and loved spending summers at Nantasket Beach in Hull. She was very proud of her Irish heritage and enjoyed many trips to Ireland. Helen loved the Kennedys and had quite a collection of books about their family which she thoroughly enjoyed. She was a member of the former, St. Charles Borromeo and Our Lady of Fatima Churches and was a member of St. Stephen's Church. She will be missed by all who knew her.
The family wishes to thank the staff of the Christopher House and the Jewish Healthcare Hospice Group for the wonderful care and kindness which they gave to Helen.
The Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, April 15 at 11AM in Saint Stephen's Church, 357 Grafton St. Burial will be in Saint John's Cemetery. There are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to, the Jewish Healthcare Hospice Assoc., 629 Salisbury St., Worcester, 01609.
