Helen Nishanian

WORCESTER-Helen Nishanian, 90, of Worcester passed away Saturday, May 9 in the Lutheran Home.

Helen Nishanian was born on July 14, 1924 and was the daughter of Maljan and Tarvez Kazarian. Born and raised in Worcester, Helen graduated from Commerce High School. She worked at Hood Milk and Norton Co. She was a member of the Armenian Church of our Saviour.


She leaves her loving daughters and son-in-laws, June and David Soloperto of Worcester, Nancy Nishanian and Joe Natola of Natick. Her grandchildren were the love of her life, Mark and Lisa Soloperto of Worcester, Chris and Stephen Natola of Natick. Her husband Nish Nishanian predeceased her in 2000. She also leaves her brother, Sam Kazarian of Worcester. Her sisters Mary Goshagarian and Sadie Takvorian predeceased her.


She enjoyed gardening, playing cards, bingo, reading, and took pride in her Armenian cooking talents. She loved socializing and entertaining with her family and many friends from Bet Shalom and of course her best friend, Grace Konisky. She looked forward to calls from her grandson Stephen at 9:00 every night.


Visiting Hours are Wednesday, May 13 from 9:30 to 11:00am in The Armenian Church of Our Saviour, 87 Salisbury Street followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00am in the Church. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Armenian Church of Our Saviour, 87 Salisbury Street, Worcester, 01609.
