WORCESTER-Helen M. (Donovan) Ostberg, 93, matriarch of the Donovan family, passed away Friday, March 27 in Holy Trinity Nursing Center. Her husband of 34 years, Elmer L. Ostberg predeceased her in 2005.

She leaves two daughters, Margaret A. "Peg" Hook and her husband David of Spencer and Karen M. Casey of Boylston; a son, John H. Lindstrand and his wife Anne of Oxford; four grandchildren, Ken, Bob, Ashley and Shawn; a great granddaughter; and several nephews and nieces. She was also predeceased by her first husband, Henry C. Lindstrand in 1956 and three brothers, Francis, William and Joseph Donovan and a sister, Mary Nowalski.


She was born in Worcester, daughter of William R. and Margaret H. (Cooney) Donovan. In her earlier years, Helen was a member of St. John's Church and in later years she attended Immaculate Conception Church. She was a wonderful cook and she loved to host all the holidays for her family. Helen had a great sense of humor. Her genuine honesty and quick wit was enjoyed by all, most recently by her nurses at Holy Trinity Nursing Center. Helen also loved to dance and enjoyed going to the SAC, where she was an active member.


Helen's family would like to thank the entire staff at Holy Trinity Nursing Care for the wonderful care they provided, especially her nurses and CNA's in the courtyard unit.
