WORCESTER-Helen (Pouris) Soter, formerly of Longfellow Road, Worcester passed away Thursday, September 13 in Holy Trinity Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Her husband of 36 years, Ernest Soter, predeceased her. She leaves two children, Marlene Soter-Tucker and her husband, David of Worcester and Robert Soter and his wife, Sandra of Spencer; five grandchildren, Ashley, Jenna, Evans, Nicholas and Gabriel; nieces and nephews, among them her dear niece, Vivi Papas and her husband, Aki of Toronto, Canada. Two brothers, George and Mihali and two sisters, Anna and Fofo predeceased her. She was born in Istanbul, Turkey daughter of Chris and Victoria Pouris. Helen came to the United States in 1957.
Helen was a seamstress for Town and Country Cleaners for many years, before retiring. She was a member of Saint Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral and enjoyed attending all types of church events. She was a talented seamstress who loved to design and make her own dresses and coats. Helen's greatest joy was spending time with her family. She was an excellent cook who loved preparing all the Greek specialties for her family and friends.
The family wants to thank the wonderful staff at Holy Trinity for taking such good care of her for the past six years and especially for the compassion they showed the final days of her life.
A Visiting Hour will be held Monday, September 17 from 9:30 to 10:30am followed by a Funeral Service at 10:30am in Saint Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to: Saint Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral or to Holy Trinity Nursing Center, 300 Barber Ave., Worcester, 01606. Arrangements are in the care of Callahan Fay Caswell Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle Street.
