AUBURN-Henry N. Hakala, 80, of 14 Preston Ave. died Wednesday April 26.
He leaves his wife of 58 years, Betty Jean (Horner) Hakala; three sons, Robert A. of Michigan, Henry J. of Worcester and Michael J. Hakala of Salem, NH; a daughter, Shari L. Labovites of Worcester; a brother, Harold Hakala of California; 13 grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Four Sons, Bruce a., Dennis P., William M. and Craig Hakala; four brothers and three sisters all predeceased him.
He was born in Worcester the son of Antti and Lisa Marie (Hippie) Hakala and graduated from Worcester Boy's Trade School. He was a Navy veteran of WWII where he was a Gunnar's Mate Second Class aboard the USS Oxford. Henry worked as a machinist at Rex Nord Company for many years before retiring. He was a member of the Chester P. Tuttle American Legion Post %23279.
The funeral will be Saturday, April 29 at 10:00 AM in LINDQUIST LUNDIN FUNERAL HOME, 36 Butler St., Worcester. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery, Worcester. Visiting hours will be Friday, April 28 from 6:00 until 9:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
