Henry P. Steenstra

May 28, 1987 — April 2, 2025

Upton

Henry P. Steenstra, 37, a man whose heart was as big as his adventurous spirit, passed away unexpectedly on April 2, 2025, in his home in Upton. His passing has left an irreplaceable gap in the lives of all who knew him, and the loss is felt deeply by family, friends, and all who had the privilege of sharing in his warmth.

He leaves behind his beloved life partner, Dihanna S. Thomas, and their young son, Henry P. Steenstra, Jr., who will carry forward his father’s legacy of love, joy, and a boundless curiosity for the world. Henry is also lovingly remembered by his mother and stepfather, Sandra and Frank Prendiville of Millbury; his brother, Steven W. Steenstra of Marathon, FL; his sister, Kaitlyn Prendiville; his treasured nephew, Kameron P. Prendiville; and a large, extended family that held him close to their hearts.

Born in Worcester, Henry was the son of the late Philip Steenstra. He graduated from Worcester Academy, where he played LAX, Football, Wrestled and gained as much knowledge as he possibly could. Known for his famous motto, “Go big or go home,” Henry tackled life with a sense of passion and determination. His warmth, generosity, and zest for life shone most brightly when he was surrounded by the simple joys of family, such as gathering fresh eggs with his son in the evenings, a ritual that brought him immeasurable joy or slipping off to Silver Lake to “slam some fish”.

Henry was a man of many talents and interests, always eager to lend a hand and offer his knowledge. From history and coin collecting to hiking, fishing, and tree climbing, he embraced life’s adventures with infectious enthusiasm. His natural ability to fix things others thought beyond repair earned him the admiration of many. Whether he was sharing stories around a fire pit, taking a cold plunge in Plum Island, going on his yearly trip to Kiwassa or simply giving the shirt off his back to help another person, his energy and spirit were undeniable.

A proud Free Mason, a dedicated member of the NRA and a design engineer at Khar Arms are titles that he was so very proud of.

Henry’s legacy will live on in the memories of those he loved and who loved him. As we remember him, let’s celebrate the fullness of his life—a life filled with laughter, love, and an unwavering commitment to living in the moment. His spirit, full of light and adventure, will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew him, reminding us to cherish each day as he did. We love you Henry.
