Howard E. “Herk” Harvey, 80, formerly of Dillon St. died Saturday, March 5, in the Autumn Village Nursing Center.

He leaves his wife of nine years, Shirley A. (Paris) Harvey; two sons, Kevin Harvey and Christopher Harvey both of Worcester; two daughters, Helen Harvey of Millbury and Janice Harvey-Cummins of Worcester; two step-sons, Jamie Parker of Bradenton, FL and Kenneth Parker of Durant, OK; nine grandchildren; a great-grandchild and nieces and nephews. His first wife, Elinor M. (Abrazinski) Harvey died in 1993. Three brothers, Leslie, Arthur and Herbert Jr. predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, son of Herbert Harvey Sr. and Mary (Nagle) Harvey and attended Sacred Heart Academy. He was an Army Veteran of WWII and later served in the Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard Reserve.

Herk was a Police Officer for the City of Worcester for 37 years, retiring several years ago. He was a 50 year member and Past Commander of the Vernon Hill American Legion Post, #435,a member of the Worcester Men of Song, the Arch Angels Guild, the Knights of Columbus Alhambra Council #88 and the 4th Degree Bishop O’Reilly Assembly

The funeral will be held Wednesday, March 9, from CALLAHAN AND FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle St. with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Ascension Church, 40 Vernon St. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling Hours are Tuesday, March 8, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
