Holden- Howard R. Ryan, Jr., 80 of Holden passed away peacefully Thursday, December 15, 2022 in the Rose Monahan Hospice House.

He leaves his beloved wife Mary A. (Wood) Ryan; Jaimie his son, wife Kimberley and grandson Jack of Holden. His son Anthony of Indiana and his lifelong best friend James Troy of Virginia. He also leaves several nieces and nephews including Kimberly and Brian Ferguson of Holden, Rick Deamer of Cape Cod and Deborah Indelicato of CA. His sister, Patricia Deamer predeceased him.  

He was born in Fitchburg, son of the late Howard “Buddy” Ryan and Helen (Jollymore) Ryan. He graduated from Commerce High School and served in the US Army, stationed in Okinawa, Japan.

Howard was a branch manager for many years at the former Commerce Bank. In his retirement he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and working as a driver for Joey’s Limousine Service along with Jonathan Nozzolillo and his second family at Joey’s. He retired on his 80th birthday after 15 years of driving. He was a longtime member of St. Joan of Arc Church, the Knights of Columbus, and a friend of Bill W. 

 

Howard loved traveling and camping in his RV. He enjoyed spending time on beaches in Florida, Aruba and traveling throughout Ireland with his friends. Howard also loved going on road trips with Jonathan and the Worcester County Model A Club. He will always be remembered as a person of very strong faith, positive spirit with a mischievous smile and glistening kind blue eyes.

 

Calling hours will be held on Monday from 9:30am to 11:00am in Callahan, Fay & Caswell Life Celebration Home, 61 Myrtle Street, Worcester. The funeral Mass will be held on Monday, December 19th at 11:30am in Saint Joan of Arc Church. 570 Lincoln Street, Worcester.  Burial with Military Honors will be held on Tuesday, December 20th at 11:00am in Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Winchendon.   

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Veterans Inc., 69 Grove Street, Worcester, MA 01605.
