Irene Yesnia Diaz, 47, passed away unexpectedly on August 3, 2023.

She was born in Brooklyn, New York on August 14, 1975. She was raised in Worcester and was a graduate of Burncoat High School in 1994. She began her career working at UMass Medical Center as a dietary aide where she was employed for many years. In later years, her passion for cooking led her to pursue a career with the Worcester Public Schools where she served in the cafeterias of East Middle School and Claremont Academy. Irene cherished time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren, and trips to her favorite store, Wally World as she would call it. She was a phenomenal cook and loved to cook for family gatherings.

She leaves behind her daughters, Nennia Yesnia Guzman and Isabel Altagracia Pena Reyes, both of Worcester; her mother, Hilda Diaz of Worcester; six grandchildren, Adiel, Jonell, Jayceon, Xzander, Anuel and Xzanaliz, all of Worcester; her siblings, Carmen Diaz, Christina Diaz, Marquita Johnson, Marco Johnson, Akela Johnson and Chavelie Torres, all of Worcester; several extended family members and many friends. 

She was predeceased by her beloved son, Antaurious Antonio “Nene” Guzman in 2019. 

Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life with visiting hours on Sunday, August 13th from 1:00pm until 3:00pm at the Callahan, Fay & Caswell Life Celebration Home, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester. A funeral service will be held at 10:00am on Monday, August 14th in the funeral home.
