Irene Frost

April 13, 1913 — October 22, 2006

WORCESTER-Irene Klementanova Drobish Frost, 93, died peacefully Sunday, October 22, 2006, at Beaumont, Westborough, after a brief illness. Mrs. Frost lived in Quinsigamond Village since 1940, and was well-known for her energy, courage and feistiness and for her beloved blueberry bushes. Her husband Paul E. Frost predeceased her in 1994.

Mrs. Frost was born in a small village near Minsk, Belorussia, on Easter Sunday 1913 to Katherine (Vinogradov) and Klement Drobish. She lived through WWI, the Bolshevik Revolution, Stalin's atrocities and several famines before coming to the United States in 1930 to join her father from whom she became separated during the Revolution. Mrs. Frost lived in Hartford, Springfield, and Philadelphia before marrying in 1938 and moving to Worcester. She is a graduate of Lee University, Cleveland, TN. During World War II while her husband was serving in the Navy in the Pacific, Mrs. Frost worked as a "Rosie The Riveter" at Norton Company. During her lifetime she was active in supporting the Russian Baptist Evangelical Union and the Salvation Army.

Mrs. Frost leaves her two children Stephen E. Frost of Harvard and Elaine Frost Drakos of Cold Spring Harbor, NY, her daughter-in-law Melanie D. Frost, her son-in-law Charles P. Drakos, eight grandchildren: Peter, Nicholas, Elena, Gregory, Ethan, Zachary, Tobias and Caleb; and five nephews. Her devotion to her family was beyond words.

A service of Remembrance will be held Saturday, October 28, 2006, at 11 am, at Congregational Church of Harvard, 5 Still River Rd., Harvard, MA. In lieu of flowers, kindly send donations in Mrs. Frost's memory to Save The Children, 54 Wilton Rd., Westport, CT 06880 or Russian-Ukrainian Evangelical Baptist Union, 574 Ashford Center Rd., Ashford, CT 06278.
