WORCESTER/FRANKLIN
Isabel Avakian passed away peacefully at home on July 11, 2016 after a long illness.
Born in Worcester, MA, she grew up in the Armenian community of that city and attended Worcester Public Schools and Clark University. For over 50 years she and her husband Bob lived in Franklin, MA. She was a schoolteacher and principal in the Franklin School System for 30 years until her retirement in 1998.
In addition to her husband Bob, she is survived by her daughters, Sona and Lori Avakian, son-in-law Michael Morville and her grandchildren, Max and Eleanor Morville. Always community-minded, after retirement Isabel volunteered her time at the Franklin Senior Center and the Purr-fect Cat Shelter. She also volunteered a great deal of her time to Camp Haiastan in Franklin, MA. To the end of her life, Isabel continued to make friends and be a connector of people in her neighborhood and community.
There are no calling hours. Funeral services are at 11:00 am on July 19, 2016 at Holy Trinity Armenian Apostolic Church in Worcester, MA. Internment is private. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Holy Trinity Armenian Apostolic Church, 635 Grove Street, Worcester, MA, 01605.
