WEST BOYLSTON- James F. Bonci, Sr. 93 passed away at home on March 27 lovingly surrounded by his family.
Jim was a lifelong resident of West Boylston. He was born in town, eldest son of, Felix and Lena (Zola) and graduated from Major Edwards High School. He proudly served in the US Navy during WWII, with active duty tours in the South Pacific and North Atlantic. Jim returned home safely after fighting for the preservation of life and began his lifelong career as a Plant Supervisor at ITT Surprenant Company in Clinton alongside his brother, Bob. He believed in others deeply and was a Captain in the West Boylston Fire Department for many years along with active membership in the VFW and American Legion in West Boylston. Jim was an amateur HAM Radio Operator that connected communications all over the world with his call letters K1≠RKO. In his retirement he enjoyed daily skiing at Mount Wachusett and other favorite mountains in New England until the age of 85, and 8am, six days a week, found him laughing with friends Norm, Charlie and others in his morning coffee group. He was a faithful, lifelong member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church.
Jim and his wife, Theresa A. (Pianowski) Bonci, would have celebrated their 70th anniversary this June. He is also survived by his children, James F. Bonci, Jr. and his wife Debora Williams of Sterling, Susan Bonci DeLiddo of Princeton, and Pamela Genelli and her partner, Wayne Franciose, of Barre; four grandchildren, Emily DeLiddo, Samuel DeLiddo, Jessica Genelli and her husband, (Richard Faulkner) and John Genelli; his great-granddaughters Gianna and Ruby and many adoring nieces and nephews. His beloved brother, Robert M. Bonci died in 2017.
Visiting Hours will be held on Tuesday, April 2 from 4 to 7pm at Fay Brothers Funeral Home, 1 West Boylston St. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, April 3 at 10am in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 111 Worcester St. Burial will be in Mount Vernon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Notre Dame Hospice c/o of the Development Office, Notre Dame Health Care Center, 555 Plantation St., Worcester or to Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 111 Worcester St., West Boylston, 01583.
