SHREWSBURY-James P. Cullen, 81, of Shrewsbury passed away Saturday, December 19th at home surrounded by his family.
He leaves his wife of 55 years, Regina (Duffy) Cullen; two sons, James Cullen, Jr. of Cherry Hill, NJ and Patrick Cullen of West Boylston; two daughters, Cathleen Cullen of Shrewsbury and Julie Karavan of Linwood, NJ; three brothers, the Most Reverend Edward Cullen, Joseph Cullen and John Cullen; a sister, Joan Brady; nine grandchildren, James, Ryan, Sean, Michael, Luke, Samuel, Peter, Edith and Elizabeth and nieces and nephews. He was born in Philadelphia, son of Edward and Julia (Leahy) Cullen and graduated from LaSalle College. He served four years in the United States Marine Corps and moved to Shrewsbury to raise his family in 1969.
James was self employed and worked in sales most of his life. He was happiest when he was with his family, but his greatest joy in life was the time he spent with his grandchildren. He was a member of St. Anne's Church. James was an avid sports fan of all New England and Philly sports teams and enjoyed college football.
James' funeral will be held Monday, December 28 at 11AM in St. Annes' Church, 130 Boston Turnpike Rd., (Rt.9). Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. Visiting Hours are private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Visitation House, 119 Endicott Street, Worcester, 01610. Arrangements are in the care of FAY BROTHERS Funeral Home, 1 West Boylston Street, West Boylston.
