James (Jim) Paul Curran Jr. of Worcester, MA passed away on October 27, 2018 at St. Vincent's Hospital after a brief battle with lung cancer.
James was born on September 6, 1947 in Worcester, MA to James P. Curran, Sr. and Marjorie (Creamer) Curran. James was predeceased by both his parents, his brother, Patrick Joseph Curran Sr., and his step-mother, Denyse (Clark) Curran. He is survived by his sister, Katherine Neale, and her husband, John Neale, his sister-in-law, Debra (Palubeckis) Curran, seven nieces and nephews, Kelly (Curran) Dube, Leeann (Curran) Letourneau, Kim (Kristolaitis) da Silva, Jamie (Curran) Robinson, Patrick J. Curran Jr., Sean P. Curran, and Erin (Neale) Ringbloom. He is also survived by 20 great nieces and nephews.
Jim served in the U.S. Army in Thailand during the Vietnam War. He later worked at U.S Steel and then over 30 years at the U.S Postal Service in Worcester before retiring in 2013. He enjoyed vacationing with his family, and especially loved Bar Harbor, Maine. He adored all his great nieces and nephews and never missed any of their school or sporting events. Jim was also an avid sports fan, and always supported local Worcester hockey teams. His absolute favorite place to eat was the Armsby Abbey where he was a regular patron since its opening. Jim was well loved by all for his easy-going and kind nature. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends alike.
Visiting Hours will be held Thursday, November 1 from 4:00 to 7:00 at Callahan, Fay & Caswell Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to, Veterans Inc., 69 Grove Street, Worcester, 01605.
