WORCESTER-James E. Daley, 83, of Puritan Ave. died Saturday, Feb. 26 at home.
He leaves three nephews, George J. Bianchi of Falmouth, James M. Bianchi of New Hampshire and John F. Bianchi of E. Falmouth; two nieces, Mary E. Eggebrecht of St. Joseph, MO and Nancy M. Bianchi of Leicester; several grandnieces and grandnephews. A sister, Helen M. Bianchi died in 1995.
He was born in Worcester the son of James E. and Emma E. (Curtis) Daley and lived here all his life. James graduated from St. John's High School in 1939 and played on the basketball team. He was a WW II Navy veteran. Mr. Daley was the head custodian for the Roosevelt School for many years before retiring. James was a member of the Vernon Hill American Legion Post %23435, VFW, Friends of St. Jude, Sacred Heart Spiritual Society, Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception and various other charities.
The funeral will be Thursday, March 3 from THE CALLAHAN & FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 MYRTLE ST. with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Stephen's Church, 357 Grafton St. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury. Calling hours will be Wednesday, March 2 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
