Worcester- James E. Harrington, 76, passed away Tuesday, September 8th in his home, surrounded by his family.

James leaves his wife of 43 years, Joanne E. (Theodosis) Harrington; two daughters, Sara A. Martin of Haverhill and Katlyn V. Harrington of South Lake Tahoe, CA; two granddaughters, Karolyn and Adalynn Martin; a brother, John F. Harrington of Fort Wayne, IN, a sister, Teresa A. Pratt of Shrewsbury and several nieces and nephews. He was born in Worcester, son of Edward J. and Nancy (Lavallee) Harrington. James graduated from South High School, Quinsigamond Community College, and Anna Maria College.

Jim, known to his co-workers as “Green Cloud,” was a patrolman with the City of Worcester Police Department for 39 years, retiring in 2014. Jim enjoyed playing racquetball at Worcester Fitness (“The WAC”), cheering for the Red Sox, trips to Myrtle Beach with family and friends, and discovering breweries with his wife. He was also a member of the Retired Friends Club of Greendale. Most of all, Jim’s greatest joys were his daughters and time spent with his grandchildren. Jim was a good man who enjoyed the simple pleasures in life and was a true gentleman. He will be greatly missed.

Visiting Hours are Monday, September 14th, from 4 to 7pm at Callahan Fay Caswell Funeral Home (61 Myrtle Street). A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, September 15th, at 11am in the Funeral Home. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to CurePSP at www.curepsp.org.
