WEST BOYLSTON, MA — James A. Maddalena, 80, of West Boylston passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2026 at UMass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus.

Jim leaves behind his beloved wife of 57 years, Jane (Bonci) Maddalena; three children, Craig Maddalena and his wife, Tammy; Paul Maddalena and his partner, Angela; and Kristin DeMarco and her husband, Paul; six grandchildren, Jacob, Taylor, Christopher, Lily, Emma and Ryan; his brother, Alfred Maddalena and his wife, Patricia; and his nephew, Jeffrey Maddalena.

Jim was born in Worcester, the son of Alfred and Lillian (Gleason) Maddalena. He graduated from North High School in Worcester and Nichols College, where he earned a degree in Business Administration. He later owned and operated AR Davis Associates, a public accounting firm, before retiring.

Jim and Jane married on May 17, 1969, in West Boylston and soon settled in Holden to raise their family. Jim was an active member of the Holden community, serving as president of the Holden Jaycees. Some of his happiest moments were spent on the sidelines and in the stands, watching Craig and Paul play hockey and baseball and Kristin play basketball and softball. A lifelong sports fan, Jim especially loved baseball and was a devoted fan of the Texas Longhorns and all Boston sports teams – he idolized Ted Willams and Bob Cousy. He spent 15 years coaching youth baseball in Holden, sharing his love of the game with generations of young players. After retiring, he continued to enjoy what mattered most to him: spending time with family and friends, cheering on his grandchildren at their sporting events, and weekend trips and dinners with his cousins. Jim’s love of Elvis Presley’s music was another part of who he was that those who knew him will remember fondly.
