WORCESTER-James F. McGlynn, 87, of Worcester died Sunday, November 28 in the Rose Monahan Hospice Home surrounded by his family.
His wife of 54 years, Anne Rita (Martin) McGlynn died in 2002. He leaves five children, Anne Marie McGlynn, Mary E. Mastrorio, Meighan R. Sharry and her husband Donald all of Worcester, Martin J. McGlynn his partner Giles Steele-Perkins of Auburn and Sara J. Favreau and her husband Kenneth of Rutland. He also leaves eleven grandchildren, Jenna, Jaime, Joe, John, Steve, Danny, Melissa, Jaqueline, Jimmy, P.J. and Natalie.
James was born in Worcester, son of Peter and Rose (McGrail) McGlynn and graduated from St. Peter's High School. He was a Navy Veteran of WWII, serving in the South Pacific aboard the U.S. Destroyer Colohan. Jim was the senior building custodian for the Worcester Municipal Airport for 31 years, retiring several years ago. He was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Church, the Main South American Legion Post %23341 and the Knights of Columbus, Alhambra Council %2388.
Jim's life revolved around his family and friends. He was loved and cherished by his children and grandchildren. Spending time with them was the true joy of his life. He will be sorely missed.
The Funeral will be held Thursday, December 2 from CALLAHAN & FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle St. with a Mass at 10 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main St. Burial will be private in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting Hours are Wednesday, December 1 from 4 to 7 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main St., Worcester, 01603.
