James W. Reidy

SHREWSBURY
James William Reidy died suddenly on September 16 at his home in Shrewsbury, where he lived with his wife of 51 years, Carolyn (Berryman) Reidy.
He was born in Worcester to Mary Elizabeth (Powers) Reidy and Daniel Edward Reidy. He was predeceased by a daughter, Carolyn Ann Reidy, in 1971 and his two brothers, John and Daniel Reidy.
He leaves four children: James Michael Reidy and his wife, Cheryl Janas Reidy of Springfield, Virginia; Ann Reidy McLean of Worcester; Mary DiDomenico and her husband Paul of Worcester; and Ronald Reidy and his wife, Kristina Perry Reidy, also of Worcester.
He leaves 10 grandchildren: his first grandchild, Lisa McLean of Shrewsbury, who he was instrumental in raising, Brennan James, Daniel Arthur and John Reidy of Springfield, Virginia; Julie Catharine, James Joseph, and Robert Frederick Reidy; and Natalie Lucia, Grace Carolyn and Catherine Siena DiDomenico, all of Worcester.
He also leaves many close friends, among them Gina, Art, and Fritz.
Mr. Reidy attended Sacred Heart Academy and grew up on St. Ann's Hill. He was employed for 17 years at the Wonder Market on Pleasant Street. He served as a recreational facility supervisor for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation from 1974 at Bennett Field Pool and Regatta Point State Park until his death.
A Funeral Mass will be held Sat., Sept., 20 at 9:30 AM in St. Peter's Church, 931 Main St., Worcester. Burial will be private. There are no calling hours. Arrangements in the care of Callahan and Fay Brothers Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St. Worcester.
