WORCESTER
James G. Rice, 76, formerly of 20 Nyland St. died Wednesday, April 13.
He leaves his wife of 54 years, June C. (Fernsten) Rice; a daughter, Julianne E. (Rice) and her husband Gregory P. Jakstis of Worcester; a grandson, Jeffrey J. Jakstis of Worcester and nieces and nephews. A brother, Robert K. Rice, predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, son of James J. and Alice E. (Kelley) Rice and graduated from Commerce High School and served in the US Army.
Jim worked for the US Postal Service for many years, retiring in 1990.He was a longtime member of Bethlehem Covenant Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing, dogs, traveling and family gatherings with his nieces, nephews, brother and sister in law and extended family. He was a longtime caregiver and friend to the late Dr. Cyprus Paskevich.
The funeral will be held Tuesday, April 18, at 1pm in Bethlehem Covenant Church, 46 Greenwood St. Burial will be in All Faiths Cemetery.
