Manchester, NH-Rev. James P. Walsh, 75, of the Diocese of Manchester passed away Wednesday, December 24 in the Mount Carmel Rehabilitation Center.
He leaves two sisters, Kathleen M. Scully of East Haven, CT and Eileen F. Granger of Worcester; three nieces, Tracey A. and Kelly-Anne Scully both of East Haven, CT and Jill N. and her husband, Jeffrey Laperle of Worcester; two grandnephews, Riley J. and Aidan P. Laperle both of Worcester; a step-daughter, Kathryn Goff of Webster; two step-sons, Paul and Scott Fontana and a step-grandson, Christopher Goff. Two brothers-in-law, Richard H. Scully and Henry F. Granger predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, son of Nicholas J. and Hannah M. (Healy) Walsh and graduated from Sacred Heart Academy, Assumption College and Saint John's Seminary in Brighton.
Father Walsh was a Curate at Immaculate Conception Church in Manchester, Pastor of Sacred Heart Parish in Marlboro and Sacred Heart Parish in Greenville all in New Hampshire, before retiring. Prior to that he was a English Teacher for Quinsigamond Community College.
The Funeral will be held Tuesday, December 30 from Callahan~Fay and Caswell Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St. with a Mass to be celebrated by his cousin, Rev. William J. Collins, M.S.C. at 10:00 AM in Saint Peter's Church, 931 Main Street. Burial will follow in Saint John's Cemetery. Visiting Hours are Monday, December 29, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Saint Peter's Food Pantry, 929 Main Street, Worcester, 01610.
