Jane A. (Hurley) O'Coin, 90, of Auburn died Tue., Nov. 24 in Saint Vincent's Hospital following a brief illness. She would have turned 91 on Nov. 25.
She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Joseph P. O'Coin, who died in 2008 and with whom she raised a family. She was also predeceased by her first husband First Lt. John E. O'Donnell, USAF in 1952. She leaves her three children, Patricia K. Silvey and her husband Ronald of Glastonbury, CT, Joseph P. O'Coin, Jr. of Auburn and Terence P. O'Coin and his wife Mary of Sturbridge; three grandchildren, Maryjane Silvey of Alexandria, VA, and Charles and Emma O'Coin of Sturbridge; several dear brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law from the O'Coin family; and several first cousins, including Barbara Hastings of Worcester. She was born in Manchester, NH on Nov. 25, 1924, daughter of Raymond J. and Signe A. (Lundstrom) Hurley, but grew up and lived in Auburn and Worcester, graduating from South High School in Worcester in 1942.
Jane worked as a telephone operator for New England Telephone Co. and for the David Clark Co. in Worcester prior to her life's work of raising and caring for her family. She was a member of St. John's Church.
The funeral will be held Sat. Nov. 28, from CALLAHAN, FAY & CASWELL Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester, with a Mass at 10 AM in St. John's Catholic Church, 44 Temple Street, Worcester. Interment will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting Hours are Fri., Nov. 27, from 4 to 7 PM at the funeral home.
