WEST BOYLSTON-Janet R. (Zuranski) Whitcomb, 82, of West Boylston passed away at her home on Tuesday, November 22.


Her husband and high school sweetheart, Lorenz E. "Eb" Whitcomb died in 2002. She leaves three daughters, Loret R.W. Schur and her husband Joel of Sterling, Paula A.W. Menendez and her husband, Joseph of West Boylston and Holly L.W. Jameson and her husband, Robert of West Boylston; seven grandchildren, Jacob and Noah Schur, Lisa and Sara Menendez, Rob, Michael and Jonathan Jameson; two sisters, Gloria Ludden and her husband, David of Fort Meyers, FL and Carol Goodrich of Paxton and nieces and nephews. A brother, Joseph Zuranski, Jr. predeceased her. She was born in Long Branch, NJ daughter of Joseph and Irene (George) Zuranski and graduated from West Boylston High School.


Janet worked at State Mutual Insurance Company for several years before retiring, prior to that she worked at the former Schultz Lubricants Company. She was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church and Mary, Queen of the Rosary Parishes. Janet loved gardening, shopping and spending time at the family camp in Spencer. Most of all she adored her family and loved being with them.


A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, November 29 at 11AM in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 111 Worcester Street. Burial will be private in Mount Vernon Cemetery. There are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to help fight cancer at UMASS to UMMF Office of Advancement, 333 South St., Shrewsbury, 01545 or a charity of your choice. Arrangements in the care of FAY BROTHERS Funeral Home, 1 West Boylston Street.
