WORCESTER-Janice E. Sokol, 81, daughter of Russell J. and Marion (Campbell) LeBlanc a lifelong resident of Worcester, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2023. Janice joins her husband of 53 years, Steve W. Sokol who predeceased her in 2013.
Janice is survived by her six children, Jodie Safford her Fiancé Michael Quinn of Worcester, Jeanne Bell and her husband Douglas of Westford, Jayne Serratore and her husband Jack of Norwood, James Sokol of Sturbridge, John Sokol of Worcester, and Joseph Sokol of Worcester: three sisters, Geraldine Hoose, Annette Mitchell, and Christine Bahde. She was “Nana” to 17 grandchildren: “Nina” to 12 great-grandchildren and a second mom to many nieces and nephews. Two grandsons, Shayne R. Safford, and John P Sokol and her youngest sister, Jeanne Bates predeceased her.
Janice graduated from Commerce High School and after raising 6 children she worked as a Pharmacy Technician for many years at Instacare Pharmacy in Worcester. She loved spending time with her family and friends, this is what mattered most to her in life. She loved her fur babies “Sketti, Meatball and Mr. T” their cuddles and companionship were favorite parts of her days.
Her dear friends at 11 Lake Ave brought out the social butterfly in her, they would play cards, bingo, attend the weekly café and numerous other functions, the family will be forever grateful to this group of friends for the kinship they developed with Janice. Janice also had quite a sweet tooth enjoying her Little Debbie powdered donuts, Marshmallow Peeps and Bullseye Candies.
Janice’s wish was for her family to gather and celebrate her life. A period of gathering with family and friends will be held privately at a later date.
