Obituary for Jason John MacKenzie 1972-2025
West Boylston/Marlborough- Jason John MacKenzie, 52, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, April 10th, at UMASS Memorial Medical Center Hospital in Worcester, MA after a beautiful life and a long battle with kidney disease.
Born on November 14, 1972, in Cambridge, the beloved son of Murdock J. MacKenzie, III and Elizabeth G. (Linnell) MacKenzie. Jason was a long-time resident of Marlborough and later moved to West Boylston in 2004.
Jason was a graduate of Assabet Valley Regional Technical School where he excelled in the art of carpentry, and was awarded the Golden Stanley Hammer award. After graduating from high school, he briefly attended Wentworth Institution of Technology studying Architecture.
Jason enjoyed every bit of life and cherished spending time with his family and friends. He was a devoted son, brother, uncle, and fiancé to Jennifer MacKenzie whom he loved with all of his heart. He was a wonderful man who was loved by all who knew him. Jason was a “Jack of all trades” who could truly fix anything. If something was broken, you could always count on him to find a way to fix it. He had a true passion and talent for carpentry, and restoring and rebuilding cars. He loved attending car shows, especially the World of Wheels annual car and truck show. He had such pride in showing off his truck, “Road Warrior”, and his 1976 Stingray Corvette, “The Outer Limits”, that he rebuilt and restored with his father and brother. Jason also enjoyed traveling, especially taking trips with his RV camper that he loved so much. His favorite vacation spots were Disney World and Universal Studios in Florida. Jason was one of a kind and will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
He is survived by his father, Murdock J. MacKenzie, lll and mother, Elizabeth G. (Linnell) MacKenzie, of Grafton; his fiancé, Jennifer MacKenzie; his two sisters, Shawna (MacKenzie) Risotti and her husband, Stephen, of Marlborough and Crystal (MacKenzie) Marshall and her husband, Adam, of Grafton and his brother Michael MacKenzie of Grafton. In addition, he is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Anna and Matthew Risotti, Amity MacKenzie, Charlie and MacKenzie Marshall, as well as many aunts and uncles.
Family and friends are welcomed to attend a celebration of Jason’s life with visiting hours on Wednesday, April 16th from 5:00PM until 7:00PM at Fay Brothers Life Celebration Home, 1 West Boylston Street, West Boylston, MA. A funeral service will begin at 7:00PM in the funeral home.
