Jean M. O'Neil

(August 2, 1950 – March 11, 2024)

With hearts heavy with sorrow yet full of gratitude for her love, we announce the passing of Jean M. O'Neil in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family, on March 11, 2024, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Jean was born in Worcester, the daughter of William J. O’Neil and Margaret M. (Finlayson). She graduated from Fanning Girls Trade School and ultimately worked for many years at the David Clark Company. Jean's presence was a source of light and love, deeply felt by all who were fortunate to know her.

Jean now joins her beloved John “Jack” Purcell, who preceded her in 2022, leaving behind a legacy rich in love. Her son, Chris, was the center of Jean's world, a testament to her unwavering love and devotion. Grandchildren Justin and Josh were the recipients of her endless love and unforgettable memories. Her entire family was touched by her kindness.

Jean is survived by her son, Christopher P. O'Neil of Worcester; her grandchildren, Justin T. O'Neil and his wife, Bina Ciddio Morris, of Brentwood, CA, and Joshua P. O'Neil of Corning, NY; her sister, Nancy M. (O'Neil) Stanley (and her late husband, Lenny, of Spencer); and her two brothers, Robert E. O’Neil also of Spencer and Paul J. O’Neil of Gardner. Jean was predeceased by her brother, James W. O’Neil, and her sister, Kathleen A. (O’Neil) Macedo. Jean was also blessed with beautiful nieces and nephews.

What a wonderful world it is. I was so blessed to have such a wonderful, devoted and caring mother.

Mom, you will be missed, remembered, and forever loved.

Her friends and family will carry forward the light of her spirit and the warmth of her heart.

As we bid farewell to Jean, we also celebrate the life she led and the ways she enriched us. We invite all whose lives were touched by her to join us at her wake on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, from 10am to 12:30PM at Callahan, Fay &Caswell Life celebration Home, 61 Myrtle Street, Worcester, MA; followed by a burial at Saint John's Cemetery in Worcester.
