WORCESTER
Jean H. (Fleming) Petty of Worcester, loving wife and mother passed away Sunday 12/27 at UMass Hospital. Jean would have celebrated her 82 birthday on January 6th. She was born in Worcester daughter of the late Fred M. and Helen (Gaier) Fleming.

Jean leaves behind her husband of 59 yrs, Joseph J. Petty, son Francis Petty and wife Sharon of Worcester, daughter Joanne Petty-McGinn of Spencer/South Yarmouth, daughter Joyce McTigue and husband John of Worcester, daughter-in-law Karen Petty and son-in-law Edward Peloquin. Her sister Susan O'Neill of Yarmouthport, and in-laws' Muriel Fleming, Francis and Bernadine Petty, Katherine Petty and several nephews, nieces and cousins.

Jean was preceded in death by three children, Joseph M. Petty %6004, Kathleen M. Peloquin %6007 and Nancy E. Petty %6008 and two brothers; Fred (Buzzy) Fleming and David Fleming.

In addition to her children, Jean's legacy includes her 14 grandchildren: Sean McGinn, Bryan McGinn, Melissa Peloquin, Elizabeth Wood, Michael Peloquin, Kelley Petty, Joseph Petty, Katelyn Petty, Matthew Petty, Megan Fikucki, Shannon Emmons, Derek Petty, Michael McTigue, Jaclyn McTigue and her 9 great grandchildren: Bryan, Dominick, Brenden, Seamus, Nolan, Kaylie, Reilly, Colin, and newly born McKenna Nancy. Two new great grandbabies are expected shortly.

Jean graduated from the former South High School and was the organist for Our Lady of the Angels Church prior to marriage. After her last child started school she was employed for many years in the student finance office at Clark University, Worcester. In 2004 a playground in University park was dedicated to her late son Joseph M. Petty, for his service to the community as a Worcester Police officer.

As the daughter of an avid outdoorsman, Jean grew up with a love for nature. She summered for nearly 30 years in Kennebunkport, ME and spent as many winters with her husband in Ft Meyers Florida, where she loved to search the beaches for sea glass and sea shells.

Jean was a member of Saint Peter's Parish and the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians. Several photos taken in Ireland by her late daughter Nancy can be viewed at the AOH in Worcester.

Jean was grateful for a life rich with family and many dear friends and especially for her best friend and partner for nearly 60 years, her husband Joe. She was deeply loved.
Her funeral will be held Thursday, December 31 from CALLAHAN & FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle St. with a Mass at 10 AM in St. Peter's Church, 931 Main St. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting Hours are Wednesday, December 30, from 4 to 8 PM at the funeral home.
