Jeanne Teresa Grady

Jeanne Teresa (Query) Grady,  80,  of Worcester, MA passed away peacefully on Christmas Eve, Monday, December 24, 2018 at River Terrace Healthcare
Center in Lancaster.  
 
Born in Ware , she was the daughter of the late Edward and Beatrice (Cote) Query.  During her childhood years, the family moved to Worcester where Jeanne graduated from the former Commerce High School and St. Vincent's School of Nursing in 1959. Nursing was her calling - she loved being a RN and helping others. Jeanne's career started as a school nurse with the City of Worcester.   She later worked for Dr. Richard Brochy, St. Vincent's Hospital, City Hospital, Doctor's Hospital, Fairlawn Hospital and returned back to the City of Worcester, retiring in 2009.     Her nursing career spanned fifty years with many stops along the way - each job more rewarding than the previous. Her "TLC - tender loving care" touched many over the years.
 
Jeanne is survived by her devoted, cherished son and caregiver, Gary T. Grady; her daughter Jacquelyn Miller and husband David of College Park, MD;  her grandsons Alexander and Dominic - a special joy in her life when she was able to visit with them;  her sister Pauline Lorden and husband Peter;  her brother Roger Query and wife Fay of Arizona; several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of over 30 years, Thomas W. Grady.
 
Jeanne also leaves behind her extended family - a loving, caring close friend Marie Sweet. Marie was extremely helpful to Jeanne throughout the years of her declining health – always making Jeanne feel special and like her own "Mom" treating her with kindness, love and compassion.    Her consistent support, dedication and friendship was truly appreciated and will never be forgotten.     Jeanne also leaves behind her close dear friend of many years, Paul Gilpatrick.   He was dedicated to Jeanne and they always enjoyed spending time together.  Taking bus trips and eating out were favorite simple pleasures. Even as her illness progressed, Paul visited her every week at the nursing home.  Jeanne leaves behind her lifelong friend from nursing school Pauline Godin - thankful for and blessed with her friendship over the years.
 
Jeanne devoted her life to her family and friends.  She was a caring, friendly person who always enjoyed spending time with everyone. She was a devout Catholic and was an active member of St. Peter's Church in Worcester. During her retirement, she was a volunteer for the Massachusetts Association for the Blind and St. Vincent's Medical City. Jeanne was also a member of the Friday Afternoon Club – she always looked forward to
visiting her school peers every week. Among her interests, she loved spending her summers at Cape Cod for over 40 years, enjoyed bus trips to Maine and other New England destinations plus her weekly trip to TJ Maxx and Macy's to seek out a bargain.  

One of Jeanne's all-time favorite vacations was to the Grand Canyon.  She loved sharing stories of her adventure out west with anyone who would listen.  She also enjoyed cooking - one of her favorite traditional meals was making her Irish soda bread, corn beef and cabbage on St. Patrick's Day. A fond memory of Jeanne's was back in 2009 when she attended the 50th reunion for St. Vincent's School of Nursing. She was very proud of this time in her life celebrating fifty years as an active licensed nurse.   Her most cherished and treasured times were those spent with her loved ones. She will be sadly missed by all and forever in our hearts.

Funeral services will be held privately and are in the care of the Callahan, Fay & Caswell Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester.
