WORCESTER-Jed “Dean” Hazard, lovingly known to many as “Crazy-Jed,” passed away peacefully at home in Worcester on Friday, May 8, at the age of 72, surrounded by the love of his family and his beloved cat, Miyagi, who never left his side.
Dean leaves behind his loving children: Igidio “Izzy” Assencoa of Altadena, California; Attanya Hazard Mouradian-Goode and her husband, Cornel, of Holden; and Jamila Hazard-Mouradian of Worcester. He was a proud and devoted grandfather to Makiyah, Cornel Jr. “CJ,” Jasmin, and Jamir, who brought him endless joy. He also leaves his brother, Delnor Hazard of Spencer; his sister, Anne Marie Assencoa of Marlborough; along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will miss him dearly. He was predeceased by his brothers, Ronny Hill, William Hazard, and Eugene Hazard. Born in Worcester, Dean was the son of William and Madeline (Hazzard) Hazard and a graduate of North High School.
Dean spent many years working as a truck driver for several companies, including ABF Trucking, Butler Deardon Company, Ryder, and M&M Trucking, before retiring. He was a hardworking man with a deep love for music, classic cars, and, above all else, his family. Whether he was working on a car, talking about engines, attending car shows, or listening to his favorite music, those who knew Dean knew how much joy those passions brought him. He was especially proud of his 1965 and 1970 Oldsmobile 442s. More than anything, Dean loved his children and grandchildren. Time spent with family meant the world to him, and the memories he created with them will be cherished forever.
