Jerry LaComfora 88, formerly of 87 Maple St., died Friday (May 2) at the Life Care Center of Auburn, after an illness.

His wife of 52 years, Ida J. (Manchetti) LaComfora died in 1997. He leaves two sons, Gerald LaComfora of Worcester and Rocky LaComfora of West Boylston; two daughters, Jean Crouch of Pittsburg, PA and Joan Kinnear of West Boylston; two sisters, Eva Rand of West Boylston and Angeline Perna of Shrewsbury; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces. Two brothers, Frank LaComfora and Paul LaComfora and three sisters, Josephine LaComfora, Mary Fancy and Josephine Knox, all predeceased him. He was born in West Boylston, son of Rocco and Dora (Detranto) LaComfora. He attended West Boylston Schools and has live here his whole life.

He was an Army Veteran of World War II.

He founded Jerry's Hardware Store in Worcester in the early 60's and worked there and at the Worcester County Hospital for many years before retiring several years ago.

He was a member of Greendale Peoples Church, the Harold N. Keith American Legion Post %23204 and the Veterans of Foreign War Post %236907.

A funeral will be held Tuesday (May 6) at 11 a.m. at Greendale Peoples Church, 25 Francis St., Worcester. Burial will be in Mt. Vernon Cemetery. Calling Hours are Monday (May 5) from 5 to 8 p.m. at Fay Brothers Funeral Home 1 West Boylston (www.faybrothers.com).
