Jessie Linderoth Obituary

Jessie Louise Linderoth of Fairfield, Connecticut passed peacefully on May 23. She was 98 and had celebrated her birthday with her family just days before. She was born in Worcester, Massachusetts on May 21,1926, daughter to Elisabeth and Chester Caswell.
Jessie lived a vibrant, happy and interesting life. She had a wonderful side to her touched with caring, fun and mischief which endeared her to many. She was a good and loyal friend and beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a shining light.
Jessie is a graduate of Middlebury College, majoring in English.
Jessie was married to Karl Linderoth of Stockholm, Sweden from 1952 to 1972 when he was killed in a car accident. They spent many years in Sweden as a young family. Jessie loved the Swedish culture and traditions and easily incorporated them into her life. She celebrated them with her family for the rest of her life.
Jessie adored music and singing. She was a member of the Fairfield County Chorale for 34 years. They preformed at the Kennedy Center and Carnegie Hall in NYC.
She also belonged to an all women singing group that she created called the Touch of Class. They were invited to the White House twice to entertain.
She had a yard full of beautiful flower gardens as well as flocks of birds who enjoyed her many feeders - both her pride and joy. She had her kitchen table and favorite wing chair placed in a way so she could watch the birds.
Jessie was a volunteer at the Bridgeport Women’s Shelter for many years. She helped uplift the lives of many in need.
She enjoyed tennis, biking, cross country skiing, kayaking, hiking and dancing.
If you frequented Southport beach late in the afternoon you may have seen her swimming point to point. She did so up into November. Or in her later years you may have seen her walking up Redding Road with her sticks always waving to passing friends.
Jessie loved her family and leaves behind a daughter Kristina, two sons, Hans and Karl,
three grandchildren Peter, Stephen and Celia, wife to Karl, Audrey, wife to Peter, Kerry, wife to Stephen, Hedy and two great grandchildren Kira and Luke. A brother, Chester F. Caswell, Jr. passed away in 2012 and a sister, Elisabeth Jane (Caswell) Frye passed away in 2022.
An active member of the Fairfield community her colorful exploits and compassion for others will be missed. She is remembered with great joy, love and respect for her love of life.
A Celebration of Jessie’s life will be held at the Greenfield Hill Congregational Church on Friday July 12, 2024 at 10am. A Private Family Graveside Service will be held in Rural Cemetery in July.
