WORCESTER/BOSTON-Joan P. Donoghue, 92, of Boston, formerly of Worcester passed away Thursday, May 19 in Spring Village, Dover, NH.
She leaves three siblings, Cornelius S. Donoghue, Jr. and his wife, Sheila of Annandale, VA; M. Celine Harrity of Worcester and Florence E. Chatowsky and her husband, Anthony of Middletown, RI; many nieces and nephews, among them her care givers, Rebecca Chatowsky, Mary Murray and Joy Chatowsky, and great-nieces and nephews. A sister, Ann F. Murray predeceased her. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Cornelius S. and Florence E. (Donohue) Donoghue and graduated from St. Peter’s High School and Clark University.
Joan was a devoted Catholic and had a long and successful career at the former New England Telephone Company. In her early years, Joan enjoyed horseback riding, ice skating and golf. She had an adventurous spirit and a sharp mind. Joan traveled worldwide with her work and with her family. She also enjoyed theatre, singing, debating current events and walking around Boston. Joan will be remembered for her thoughtful poetry, her generosity and her hospitality.
A Visiting Hour will be held Thursday, May 26 from 8:30 to 9:30 am at Callahan Fay Caswell Life Celebration Home, followed by a Mass at 10 am in Our Lady of Loreto Church, 37 Massasoit Rd. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery.
