Joan A. Meola

Worcester-Joan A. (Giangrande) Meola, 91, passed away Saturday, June 20 in the Rose Monahan Hospice House.

Her husband of 54 years, Carmine F. Meola, Sr. died in 2009. She leaves four children, Nancy Mott and her husband, Andy of N. Oxford, Carmine F. Meola, Jr. of Worcester, Andrew D. Meola and his wife, Rebecca of N. Conway, NH and Mary Jean Meola of Barre; twelve grandchildren, David, Ashley, Tara, Alicia, Andrew, Danielle, Katie, Andrew, Dereck, Deanna, Emily and Anthony; 21 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granchild; a daughter in law, Morag Meola of Holden and a son in law, Eugenio Vega of Worcester and many nieces and nephews. A son, Gary P. Meola, a daughter, Linda A. Meola and three siblings, Armando, Mary and Rose predeceased her. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Andrea and Angelina (Posselli) Giangrande and graduated from Commerce High School.

Joan worked in the family trucking business and as a school crossing guard, before retiring. She loved caring for her dogs and her plants surrounding her home, but her pride and joy was spending time with her great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Fay Brothers Life Celebration Home, 1 West Boylston Street, West Boylston, Monday, June 29th  from 9:00am until 11:00am.  A funeral service will begin at 11:00am in the funeral home followed by burial in Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Ave., Paxton.
