WORCESTER-Joan M. (Michalowski) Sullivan, 73, of Worcester, died Saturday, May 2 at home surrounded by her family. She leaves her husband of 53 years, Joseph M. Sullivan; two sons, Michael J. Sullivan and his wife Kathy of Oxford and Joseph B. Sullivan and his wife Sheila of Worcester; a brother, Fred Michalowski of Milwaukee, WI and five grandchildren; Jen, Erin, Bridget, Mikaela and Patrick. A brother Robert Michalowski predeceased her.
She was born in Worcester, daughter of Stanley and Catherine (Malloy) Michalowski and attended Commerce High School. Joan worked as a Teacher's Aide for the City of Worcester and then later worked at Worcester State College. She was a long time member of St. Charles Borromeo Church, member and past president of the Worcester-Auburn Emblem Club. She volunteered for VNA Hospice and the Rose Monahan Hospice Residence.
The funeral will be held on Thursday, May 7 from CALLAHAN & FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle St. with a Mass at 11:00 AM in St. Charles Borromeo Church, 341 June Street. Burial will be private. A visiting hour will be held from 9:00-10:30 AM the morning of the funeral in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joan's memory to the Jewish Home Hospice, 631 Salisbury St., Worcester, MA 01609.
