John Baker 91, of 340 May St., formerly of Hollywood St. died on Thursday, May 27, at UMass Memorial Medical Center-Belmont St. Campus, following a short illness.

He was born in Oldham, Lancashire, England, on July 25, 1912, the son of Herbert and Helen (Taylor) Baker. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 59 years, Anne C. (Hughes) Baker, who died in 2000.

He leaves his daughter, Anne Donoghue and her husband Alexander of Worcester. He also leaves three grandsons, Jay and his wife Michele and great-grandson, Connor of Amherst, NH; Timothy and his wife Kathy of Berkley, MA and Patrick Donoghue of Worcester, all of whom he was so proud of and loved dearly. He leaves a brother, Raymond of Colorado. A sister, Norah Brierly of Worcester and a brother, William Baker of Sterling, predeceased him.

Mr. Baker was a Station Examiner for the US Post Office for 33 years before retiring. He was a WWII Veteran, serving in the US Army, stationed in England.

He enjoyed photography, painting and building radio-control airplanes and was a founding member of the Quinapoxet Model Flying Club. With his dry sense of humor, love of learning new things, love of family and sparkling blue eyes, he will be sorely missed.

A Memorial Mass will be held Wednesday, June 2, at 10 a.m. in St. Peter's Church, 931 Main St. Burial of cremains will be at 2:15 in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Activity Fund at Tatnuck Park, 340 May St. Worcester, 01602.
