John F. Bergeson 63, of 3 Mary Dr. died Wednesday, Jan. 7, in UMASS Memorial Medical Center, after an illness.

He leaves his dear friend, Lee Smith; two daughters, Kelly Bryer of Groton, NH and Lynn Mack of Walpole, NH; three brothers, Eric T. Bergeson of Nashua, NH, David W. Bergeson of West Boylston, MA and Richard B. Bergeson of Whittier, CA; two sisters, Anne G. Pessotti of Nashua, NH and Karen W. Ames of Walpole, MA; three grandchildren, Emma, Daniel and Patrick; and Paula Bergeson of West Yorkshire, England. He was born in Utica, NY, son of the late John T. and Nancy (Griffith) Bergeson. He graduated from Gould Academy in Bethel, ME and Northeastern University.

Mr. Bergeson owned and operated, Bergeson Woodworking Machinery Inc. in West Boylston for many years.He was an avid flyer and was a commercial, seaplane and glider pilot and held several other various flying ratings and was a certified flight instructor. He was a member of the Greater Boston Soaring Club, the Franconia Soaring Club, the Appalachian Club and was an Angel Flight Pilot. John also enjoyed, skiing, sailing, hiking, candlepin bowling and tennis.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, Jan. 10, at 2 p.m. in the First Congregational Church, 26 Central St. Burial will be at convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St. Framingham, 01701 or to the AOPA Safety Foundation, 421 Aviation Way, Frederick, MD 21701.
