John J. Bubon, 89, of Charlton passed away on August, 9 at St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester Medical Center.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Maguerite L. Bubon; his daughter, Cynthia L. Love and her husband Mark L. Love of Paxton; his granddaughter, Courtney L. Fitzmaurice of Paxton; his brothers, Raymond Bubon of Auburn and Frank Bubon of Leicester; his sisters, Josephine Pickett of Worcester and Alice Michneiwicz of California and several nieces and nephews. A brother, Peter Bubon and sisters, Mary Vostok and Cecelia Kane, predeceased him.
John worked at Thompson Wire of Worcester for 40 years. He was a decorated World War II veteran having participated in the allied forces invasion of Normandy, France in which he was badly wounded. As such he was an active member of the Massachusetts Chapter of American Disabled Veterans.
In addition to his family and his work, his other great passion was breeding, raising, and competitively field hunting beagles. He was so accomplished, received so many prizes and awards, and consistently won so many competitions, that he was considered a master expert in this field by his colleagues. He was a life-time member of the Eastern Mass Beagle Club and the Palmer Beagle Club. Despite these champion accomplishments, he quietly maintained that his greatest pride and satisfaction in this regard was that he transcended his skills, his love, and his affection for beagles, horses, and all animals to his daughter and grand-daughter.
He was Town Dog Officer and Animal Inspector for the Town of Auburn for more that twelve years, before moving to Charlton.
