John F. "Jack" Carmody, Sr. 68, of 54 Dartmouth St. passed away Thursday, March 2 surrounded by his loving family.
He leaves behind his devoted wife of 44 years, Eleanor F. (March) Carmody, his four children, Karin F. West of Northboro, John F. Carmody, Jr. of Oxford, Jennifer F. Knights of Londonderry, NH and Ellen F. Carmody of Worcester; seven beautiful grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews, among them, Kathleen Carmody of New York, NY. He was born in Worcester, son of Thomas and Catherine (Courtney) Carmody and graduated from Commerce High School. He was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War.
Jack was a Firefighter for the City of Worcester for 23 years, retiring in 1988 from the Providence Street Station. He also worked part time as a groundskeeper for the Auburn District Nurses and as a custodian for Packachoag Church in Auburn. He was a member of the Worcester Retired Fire & Police Assoc., St. Stephen's Church and its Pitch League,the Worcester Firefighters Local %231009 and the Retired State County and Municipal Employees Assoc. of Mass.
The Funeral will be held Monday, March 6, from Callahan and Fay Brothers Funeral Home with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Stephen's Church, 357 Grafton St. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Visiting Hours are Sunday, March 5, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
