John E. Johnson, 54

Hudson, MA - John Edward Johnson sadly left this life at his home on Monday, May 8, 2023, to be welcomed and embraced by his parents' open arms in Heaven. John courageously battled for many years with complications from diabetes. John was born in Athol, MA on November 22, 1968, and grew up in Worcester. He graduated from St. Peter-Marian High School in Worcester and then studied Network Administration at the Salter School in Worcester.

John was a very religious man who found comfort in God and Jesus Christ during his battles to survive. John always had hope. Found next to his pillow when he passed away was the Beanie Baby bear, Hope whose poem on her tag reads: Every night when it's time for bed /Fold your hands and bow your head / An angelic face, a heart that's true/ You have a friend to pray with you!

John never complained and was always uplifting. He greeted everyone who crossed his path with a big smile, "hello", and a wave. John also enjoyed many laughs w i t h his neighbor and friend, Jean who described him as "something else". John loved his hobbies: painting small pieces of artwork, designing video games, and especially his Star Trek collection that he had since childhood. As much as he struggled, John took pride in his appearance, always making sure to dress nicely for his three-times-a- week dialysis treatments. He was always uplifting, especially when he answered his phone, with a big "Hello".

John is survived by his sister, Susan M. Sigel of Worcester and his two nephews, Justin and Jonathan Sigel who he loved with all his heart. He also leaves behind his neighbor and friend, Jean who helped him so much. John was pre-deceased by his father, John Paul Johnson and his mother, Grace Cecilia (Mackintire) Johnson.

John's wishes were to be cremated. His remains will stay with his sister, Susan until her passing when he can be laid to rest in her arms. There are no calling hours. A celebration of John's life will be scheduled in the near future. Memorial donations may be made to American Diabetes Association in John's memory online at www.diabetes.org Arrangements are through Callahan Fay Caswell Funeral Home in Worcester.
