WORCESTER-John F. Farrell, Jr., 69, of Woodstock, GA, formerly of Worcester, died Monday, April 9 in Atlanta, GA.

He leaves his beloved wife of 25 years, Laura (Pallett) Farrell, his children, Kathleen M. Gaffney, John F. Farrell, III and Patty Milewski all of Worcester, Eileen E. Welch of Rockland, Michael R. Curtis of Leicester, Richard D. Curtis and Kevin P. Curtis both of California; two sisters, Mary A. Thompson of Chadds Ford, PA and Joan W. Anderson of Cleveland, OH; 12 grandchildren; nieces and nephews, and his dog, Snuggles.

He was born in Worcester, son of John F. and Agnes S. (Gaffney) Farrell and graduated from St. Stephen's High School, where he was an All-City baseball and basketball player for four years. He then signed a contract with the Cleveland Indians and played outfield for the Indians Triple A farm team. His outfield consited of himself, Roger Maris and Rocky Colovito.
John worked for the Worcester Public Schools for many years, before retiring. He was a member of the Main South American Legion Post %23341, Hillcrest Country Club, the Growlers and a former member of St. Charles Borromeo Church. John was a former baseball coach at St. Peter's High School.

The funeral will be held Fri., April 13, from Callahan & Fay Brothers Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St. with a Mass at 10 AM in St. Charles Borromeo Church, 341 June St. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting Hours are Thurs., April 12, from 5 to 8 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, 01701.
