John R. Finn, 70, passed away Thursday, September 27 in the Holden Nursing Center.
He leaves two daughters, Elizabeth L. Stewart and her husband, Jason of South Grafton and Caroline A. Williams and her husband, Ryan of West Boylston; five grandchildren, Chloe and Sean Stewart and Daniel, Aiden and Finn Williams; his former wife, Donna J. (Lawson) Finn and his sister, Marguerite M. Finn of East Hartford, CT. His son, Daniel J. Finn, his brother, Thomas L. Finn, Jr. and his beloved and loyal service golden retriever, Hogan predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, son of Thomas L. and Marguerite C. (Caffrey) Finn and graduated from Burncoat High School. John then went on to serves in the Massachusetts Army National Guard.
John was a Sergeant, serving in the Massachusetts Correctional Office in Concord and in Gardner as well as serving as a part-time Police Officer for the Town of West Boylston. Prior to that he worked alongside his father and brother in the family business, the Worcester Foundry. John favorite pastime was sailing.
The family would like to thank the entire staff of Holden Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center and Notre Dame Hospice for their outstanding care.
The family will be holding a private tribute at sea to honor John's memory at a later date.
