John J. Gingras

John J. Gingras, 63, of Charlton passed away Saturday, August 11 at home surrounded by his loving family following a brief illness with pancreatic cancer.

He will be greatly missed and remembered by his wife of 40 years, Katherine (Kelley) Gingras; a daughter, Lynn A. Gingras of Charlton; a son, Sean F. Gingras and his wife, Cassandra of Sturbridge. He was the proud "Grampa" of his two grandchildren, Aidan and Lillian.

He was born in Worcester, son of the late Eugene R. and Margaret E. (Coomey) Gingras. He leaves a sister, Ann Pugliese of Worcester; three brothers, Eugene "Bud" Gingras and his wife, Sharon of Millbury, William Gingras and his wife, Frances of Northbridge and Michael Gingras and his wife, Donna of Worcester; a sister-in-law, Karen Petty of Worcester; two brothers-in-law, James Kelley and his wife, Julianne of Rutland and Barry Kelley of Sterling along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father and mother-in-law, Robert and Madelyn Kelley and three brothers-in-law, Robert Kelley, Joseph Petty and William Pugliese.

He attended St. Stephen's High School until its closing and graduated from Holy Name High School and Worcester Technical Institute. John worked for the Mass Highway Department for 30 years retiring in 2015 as the District 3 Materials Engineer, prior to that he worked for the Pittsburgh Testing Laboratory at Seabrook Nuclear Station. John enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved spending his summer days in Wells, Maine going to the beach and riding his bike.

Family and friends are invited to honor, remember and celebrate his life on Tuesday, August 14th from 9:00 to 10:30am at the Callahan, Fay & Caswell Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester. A funeral Mass will follow at 11am in St. John's Church, 40 Temple St. Burial will be private. The family asks that flowers please be omitted and donations may be made to the New England Center for Children, 33 Turnpike Rd., Southborough, 01772 or to Saint John's Food Pantry, 40 Temple St., Worcester, 01604.
