John E. Gleason, 75, of 52 Lawrence St. died Thursday (Nov22) at home after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 49 years Mary Ellen (Flavin) Gleason, three sons, Michael Gleason of Holden, Patrick Gleason of Northboro, John Gleason of West Boylston, three daughters, Catherine Gleason, Mary Patricia Gleason, Jennifer Sabacinski all of West Boylston, two sisters, Dorothy Garland and Mary Gleason both of Swampscott, nine grandchildren, nephews and nieces. A brother Leo Gleason of Danvers predeceased him He was born in Lynn, son of Leo F. and Mary C. (Wall) Gleason. He graduated from St. Johns High School in Swampscott and Boston College. He was a Navy veteran of WWII.

He was a Claims Supervisor for 40 years for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company retiring in 1991.

He was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church. The Harold N. Keith American Legion Post %23204. He was a Selectman for the Town of West Boylston for 23 years and served on the school committee for a year. He enjoyed golfing and traveling to cape cod and Florida

A Funeral will be held Monday (Nov26) from Fay Brothers Funeral Home 1 West Boylston St. with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church 111 Worcester St. Burial will be in Mt. Vernon Cemetery. Calling Hours are Sunday (Nov25) from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. In Lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the West Boylston Dare Program c/o of The West Boylston Police Department 39 Worcester St. West Boylston 01583
