John R. Greene 77, of Millbury died Saturday, March 28 in the Radius Healthcare Center. He leaves his wife of 49 years, Bernice M. (Cook) Greene; a son, John M. and his wife Cynthia Greene of Gaithersburg, MD; a daughter, Cheryl Ann Greene of Worcester; two grandchildren, Sean T. Greene and Elizabeth R. Greene and nieces and nephews. Three brothers, Joseph, George and Richard V. and three sisters, Mary Stepsis, Margaret "Peggy" Veroneau and Alice Kubicki predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, son of George and Mary (Stepanaitis) Greene and graduated from Worcester Boys Trade School and has lived in Millbury since 1967.

John worked for the Telegram and Gazette for 31 years, retiring in 1993. He was an avid fisherman, baseball and football fan and a proud family man.

A Graveside Service will be held Wednesday April 1, at 10 AM in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester. There are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Childrens Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl., Memphis, TN 38105.
