John Allen Hatch

John A. Hatch, 84, of Spencer, MA passed away peacefully with his family by his side on July 25, 2024.

John was an intelligent, kind, calm, and accomplished man who was a proud Marine through and through.

John was born in Norwood, MA, to the late Charles W. Hatch and Emma E. (Matthews) Hatch. At 16, John met the love of his life, Pauline, whom he always lovingly referred to as “Deary”. John and Pauline shared 65 years of marriage together and raised three boys who blessed them with 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Soon after graduating high school, John joined the Marine Corps where he served from 1958-1965. Following his Marine Corps career, John went to Bryant University and graduated with a degree in accounting. From there, he became an auditor for the United States Department of Agriculture, retiring in 1995. In retirement, he enjoyed traveling to an array of different destinations with his wife and family. John especially loved the abundant gatherings with family and friends at he and Pauline’s home on the lake that they shared for 43 years together.

John leaves his devoted wife and tireless caregiver Pauline (Lamarre) Hatch; his son Mark Hatch and his wife Linda of Rutland; his son Robert and his wife Liane of Charlton; his son John “Little John” Hatch and his wife Christina of Naples, FL; his 9 grandchildren Tomeca, Breana, Kelsey, Caitlyn, Sean, Nicole, Brandon, Ian, and Ryan; and his 5 great-grandchildren Grayson, Finley, Zarina, Quinn, and Juleeana. John also leaves many close family members and friends.

John’s family asks that you share your kind words and memories in his online guestbook with Fay Brothers Life Celebration Home. Services and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, John would love for donations to be made to The Semper Fi Society Project to help change the lives of veterans and their families.
