SHREWSBURY- John F. Healy, 75, formerly of Hitchcock Rd., Worcester, died Tuesday, August 1 in St. Vincent Hospital. He leaves his sister, Eleanor M., wife of Paul J. O'Connor with whom he lived, a nephew, James P. O'Connor of Shrewsbury, two nieces, Joan M., wife of Dennis Deyo of Worcester and Patricia A., wife of Brian Postale of Shrewsbury, two grand nieces, Kerry and Briana Postale of Shrewsbury, many cousins and friends.
He was born in Worcester, son of Timothy J. and Margaret (Moynihan) Healy, graduated from South High School and Worcester School of Business Science. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Healy worked in central office repair at New England Telephone for 35 years, retiring in 1991. He was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Church and 25 year member of the St. Vincent De Paul Society where he also served as past president and treasurer. He was also a member of the Main South American Legion Post 341. He was a volunteer for Seven Hills Foundation and the Pioneers Talking Book Repairs.
The funeral will be held on Friday, August 4 from CALLAHAN & FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Peter's Church, 931 Main Street. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting hours are Thursday, August 3 from 5-8 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Peter's Church, 929 Main St., Worc., MA 01610 or to Perkins School for the Blind Development, Dept. W, 175 North Beacon St., Watertown, MA 02472.
