John Francis Kelley, most recently of Worcester, MA passed away peacefully on June 20th at the age of 77. He passed away in Umass Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family after a long battle with kidney disease.
John was born in Cambridge, MA to Dorothy and John Kelley Sr. He attended school at Cambridge High and Latin where he enjoyed playing football. He went on to attend Lowell State College where he received his bachelor’s degree in engineering. John was an avid golfer who, due to his quick-witted humor and unmistakable laugh, never lost his passion for the game. He also enjoyed reading and anything to do with Boston sports, especially the Patriots. For most of his life, John owned a series of small businesses and resided in Harvard, MA where he helped to raise his children who, in his own words, were a true blessing.
John is survived by his wife Jerianne Kelley of Harvard, along with his daughter Marianne Izzo and his four sons, Ryan, Kieran, Brennan, and Liam Kelley. He also leaves behind three grandchildren, Irelind Kelley, Kate Izzo, and Quinn Kelley. John is predeceased by his father John Kelley Sr and his mother Dorothy Kelley.
Visiting hours will be held Tuesday July 5th from 5-7 pm at Callahan Fay & Caswell Life Celebration Home located at 61 Myrtle Street, Worcester, MA. John’s funeral will be held on Wednesday July 6th at 11:00am at St. John the Evangelist Church, 2254 Massachusetts Ave. Cambridge, MA with a private burial afterwards. In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations to The American Kidney Fund which can be done at their website www.kidneyfund.org
